To choose an atmospheric water generator in Thailand, compare the average litres a day each machine makes in real conditions rather than a maximum figure, check that it works across the humidity of your rooms, look at how the water is filtered and remineralised, and ask who services it, how fast, and whether spare parts are held in the country. The tank should be food grade, the power draw stated and the warranty written. Any supplier, Minairal included, should answer every point below without hesitation.
Is the output an average or a maximum?
This is the first question because it changes everything else. Brochures tend to print the figure reached in a test chamber at high humidity and high temperature. Ask instead for the average litres a day, and for the humidity and temperature at which that average was measured.
Minairal states averages: the Air Top makes 13 L a day on average, the Air Stand 16 L and the Air Stand Pro 22 L, with 30 L maximum for the Pro only, for relative humidity between 30% and 80% at an average temperature of 25°C. The method for turning a people count into a number of machines is set out in our earlier seven criteria guide.
In which humidity range does it work?
Thailand is humid, but rooms are not all the same. A lobby open to the garden sits at 70% or more; an air-conditioned office can fall below 50%. A machine should state the range in which it produces water and the range in which it produces its average.
Ask where the machine will stand and measure the humidity there for a few days. If the answer is a cold meeting room, the honest supplier will say output will be lower, or will suggest the next room along. Our guide on how atmospheric water generators work explains why humidity matters more than temperature.
How is the water filtered and remineralised?
Condensed water is nearly pure, which means nearly empty. It needs filtration to remove what the air carried, UV protection in the tank so stored water stays clean, and a mineral stage that puts calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium back. Without that stage the water tastes flat and the pH sits low.
Ask three things: which stages the machine has, how often each cartridge is changed, and who changes it. Minairal's Air range filters, protects with UV and remineralises; the pre-filter is changed every 6 months and the other cartridges every 12 months, by our technicians.
Who services it, how fast, and are parts in the country?
A water machine is used every day, so the service question matters more than any feature. Ask whether the technicians are employees or subcontractors, where the nearest service centre is, what the average response time is, and whether cartridges and parts are held in Thailand or shipped on demand.
Minairal's answers: technicians are on our payroll, 2 to 5 per centre; there are 3 service centres, in Koh Samui, Phuket and Hua Hin, plus a Minairal point in Koh Phangan, with Bangkok served from the network; spare parts are stocked in the country; and the response time is 4 hours on average, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 18:00, in English and Thai. Details are on the company page.
Is the tank food grade and how much power does it draw?
Water sits in the tank for hours, so the tank material and the UV inside it matter. Ask for a food-grade tank, a UV lamp in the tank, and a way to drain and clean it during maintenance.
On electricity, ask for the power draw while condensing and whether the machine stops when the tank is full. Minairal's Air machines draw about 370 to 500 watts while producing and stop at a full tank. A figure in watts lets you estimate your monthly cost from your own bill; a vague promise of low consumption does not.
What does the warranty cover?
Read what is covered, for how long, and what voids it. Compressor and cooling circuit, electronics, pump and UV lamp should each be named. Ask whether the warranty requires maintenance by the supplier's technicians and whether a loan unit is provided during a repair.
Finally, ask to try the machine. A week in your own room tells you more than any brochure: how many litres it really makes, how the water tastes, how much noise it makes at night.
The checklist in one table.
| Question | A good answer looks like | Minairal's answer |
|---|---|---|
| Output | An average, with humidity and temperature stated | 13, 16 or 22 L a day on average at 30% to 80% humidity and 25°C; 30 L maximum for the Air Stand Pro |
| Humidity range | Stated, with a measurement at your site | 30% to 80% relative humidity, checked at the site assessment |
| Water treatment | Filtration, UV, remineralisation, intervals named | Filtered, UV protected, remineralised; pre-filter 6 months, other cartridges 12 months |
| Service | Employed technicians, local centre, response time, parts in stock | Technicians on payroll, 3 service centres plus a Koh Phangan point, parts in Thailand, 4 hours on average |
| Tank and power | Food-grade tank with UV; watts stated | Food-grade tank with UV lamp; about 370 to 500 watts while producing |
| Warranty and trial | Written cover, trial before purchase | Written warranty; free one-week trial |
Frequently asked questions.
Which brand of atmospheric water generator should I choose in Thailand?
The one whose supplier answers the six questions above in writing and lets you test the machine where it will stand. Compare averages, not maximums, and weigh the service network as heavily as the price.
Does an atmospheric water generator work in an air-conditioned room?
Yes, but it produces less, because cooled air holds less water. Measure the humidity in the room first, and if it sits near the bottom of the range, place the machine in a corridor, a pantry or a lobby instead.
How many litres a day do I need?
Count two litres per person per day and divide by the average output of the machine. A family of four needs about 8 L a day, a 20-person office about 40 L, and a hotel is sized room by room at the site assessment.
Minairal installs and services the Air range across Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Phuket, Hua Hin and Bangkok. To put a machine through the checklist in your own building, request the free one-week trial.
