The alternative to water delivery in Hua Hin, Koh Samui and Phuket is to make drinking water where it is drunk. A Minairal system either filters and remineralises the existing water line or condenses drinking water from the humidity in the air, then serves it hot and cold. There is no bottle to order, no truck to wait for and no plastic to send back. More than 700 systems already work this way in Thailand, with service centres in each of the three towns.
Why do people order water delivery in Hua Hin, Koh Samui and Phuket?
Because the tap is not an option. Mains water in Thailand is not treated to be drunk from the tap, and on the islands and the coast it is often inconsistent in pressure and quality as well. So households and businesses do what everyone does: they call a water delivery company and have 19 L bottles brought to the door.
It works, to a point. The bottles arrive on a schedule that is not yours, they take up a store room, someone has to lift them, and in high season the delivery can be late because every hotel on the island is ordering at once. The search for "water delivery Hua Hin" or "water delivery Koh Samui" usually starts when the current supplier has let someone down.
What does water delivery really cost?
The price per bottle is only the start. Divide the delivered price of a 19 L bottle by 19 to get the price per litre, then add what the invoice does not show: the deposit on the bottles, the space for full and empty ones, the staff time spent ordering, receiving and lifting, and the days without water when a delivery is missed.
Then count the plastic. One person drinking two litres a day from half-litre bottles throws away 1,460 bottles a year. A site of fifty people, 73,000. On an island, every one of those litres arrives by boat and truck and leaves the same way as waste. The 19 L bottle is reused, but it still rides the same trucks and the same ferries in both directions.
The alternative: make the water where it is drunk.
Minairal replaces the delivery with a machine at the point of use. There are two ranges, chosen according to the site.
| Air range | Pure range | |
|---|---|---|
| Water source | Humidity in the air, no plumbing | The existing water line |
| Models | Air Top, Air Stand, Air Stand Pro | Pure Countertop, Pure Floor |
| Output | 13, 16 or 22 L a day on average | Continuous, from the line |
| Treatment | Filtration, UV, remineralisation | Five-stage RO, UV-C, remineralisation |
| Delivery | Hot and cold (cold only on the Air Stand Pro) | Hot and cold |
| Installed | Plug in | Under an hour |
Both ranges add calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium back into the water, so what comes out of the tap is mineral water with an alkaline pH, not the flat taste of a plain filter. The filters are changed by a Minairal technician on a fixed schedule, so there is nothing to order and nothing to remember.
Water delivery alternative in Hua Hin.
Hua Hin is a long coastal strip of villas, condominiums, golf resorts and retirement homes, many of them far from the town centre. Deliveries along the Phetkasem road take time, and villas in the hills behind the town are the last on the round.
A villa or a small resort there can run on an Air system with no plumbing work, or on a Pure system where the line is good. Minairal has a service centre in Hin Lek Fai for installation and filter changes. See our Hua Hin page for the local details.
Water delivery alternative in Koh Samui.
Koh Samui is where Minairal started and where the case for making water on site is strongest. Every bottle reaches the island by ferry, the ring road is slow in high season, and the island's own water supply is under pressure every dry season. A hotel that depends on daily deliveries is exposed on all three counts.
A 50-room hotel in Koh Samui typically runs several Air Stand Pro units in the back of house and Pure dispensers in the restaurant and the staff areas. Head office, showroom and the main service team are in Bo Phut. Our Koh Samui page covers the island in detail.
Water delivery alternative in Phuket.
Phuket has the volume: thousands of hotel rooms, large offices, international schools and clinics, spread from Patong to Rawai and Thalang. Water delivery companies serve it well, but the plastic footprint of a large resort running on bottles is measured in truckloads.
Point-of-use systems scale with the site: one Pure Countertop in a clinic, a row of Pure Floor dispensers in a school, Air units in villas without a reliable line. The Minairal service centre in Chalong covers the island. Details are on our Phuket page.
What changes for a hotel, a villa or an office.
- No more ordering. The water is there when the tap is opened, in high season as in low.
- No store room full of bottles. The space goes back to the business.
- No lifting. Nobody carries 19 kg above shoulder height any more.
- No plastic in the bin. Guests notice, and so do the people who collect the island's waste.
- One supplier for the water and the service. Filters are changed on schedule by the same team that installed the system.
For a home, both ranges are on our online shop with prices in baht. For a business in Hua Hin, Koh Samui or Phuket, the first step is a site assessment: contact us and a technician from the nearest service centre will come and look at the site.
Frequently asked questions.
Can an atmospheric water generator replace water delivery?
For most homes and small businesses, yes. The Air Top makes 13 L a day on average, the Air Stand 16 L and the Air Stand Pro 22 L, and several units can be combined for larger sites.
What if the water line on the island is unreliable?
Choose the Air range. It makes drinking water from the air and needs only a power socket, so a dry tank or a pressure drop does not affect it.
Who changes the filters?
A Minairal technician, on a fixed schedule, from the service centre in Hua Hin, Koh Samui or Phuket. Support is in English and Thai.
Is the water as good as delivered water?
It is filtered, protected by UV and remineralised with calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. It is made minutes before it is drunk rather than weeks before.
